As the manufacturing sector in the United States continues to grow, marking a resurgence that has added more than 700,000 new jobs in the past five years, more highly trained and skilled workers will be needed to work in different sectors across the country. Production is returning to the United States from overseas and the increase in natural gas extraction and its related by-product processing are helping to drive manufacturing. This is great news for those who have decided on a career as an industrial technician.

“Industrial technician” is a broad position. It encompasses jobs that are needed for maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for a wide variety of manufacturing needs.

  • Students in this program will learn:
  • Basic electrical and construction wiring
  • Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs)
  • Welding practices
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Powertrains
  • Reading blueprints and electric schematics
  • Industrial mechanics
  • Motor repair and electric machine control

 

Students in this program will work in a training lab to learn about powertrains and hydraulics and a PLC lab to use a Mechatronics simulator. They will complete wiring in an actual building, use Stick, MIG, and TIG welders, and learn other skills that will are required for an industrial technician.


What is Required to Become an Industrial Technician

In addition to learning about general welding, hydraulics, mechanics, and electrical practices, students should also be able to develop customer service skills and learn to think critically.

With so many skills, the graduates of this program will be marketable to employees in this area and other regions of the country, too. Rosedale Tech offers a 16-month Industrial Technician program that is taught by experienced instructors. Following completion of the program, graduates will earn an associate degree in specialized technology. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to complete work on several certifications.
