Rosedale Supports Students’ Job Search
A Look Into Rosedale Tech’s Recent Job Fair
Rosedale Technical College provides top-notch education and training to adult students of all ages. We also believe in preparing and supporting students during their next career step: the job search.
Rosedale holds several job fairs each year to match up employers with students who are ready to begin their careers. (KDKA TV came to our last job fair—you can view the video here.) Each student takes a career preparation course that teaches them how to write a resume and cover letter, prepare for an interview, choose from job offers, and follow up with potential employers. As the need for skilled workers rises, so do the numbers of employers who attend our job fairs.
Skilled Trades Job Market Continues to Grow
The job market for skilled trade workers is opening up for several reasons:
- Skilled technicians will be getting ready to retire. This will leave more than 600,000 trade jobs vacant.
- The recent natural gas expansion in our region has led to an employment boom within the past five years. Marcellus Shale industry jobs continue to grow year-over-year.
- The science and technology workforce is expected to grow throughout the end of the decade. This means that 300,000 positions in Pennsylvania and 270,000 jobs in Ohio are being added to the job rolls.
Rosedale’s programs in diesel and automotive technology, electrical technology, HVAC technology, industrial technician, welding, and truck driving offer students the ability to prepare for a stable career in a great environment.
Employers Turn to Rosedale for Skilled Workers
Rosedale forms relationships with many employers in the Pittsburgh region, as well as those who are outside the tri-state area. We work with hundreds of companies to ensure that we are training students correctly. That way, they will have the necessary skill sets and know exactly how to perform their job before they even graduate.
This feedback prepares our students for their careers and helps to guide Rosedale’s curriculum. It’s just one of the ways that our instructors guarantee that the students’ education is comprehensive and leads to employment. In fact, we’re proud to say that our job placement rate at graduation stands at 92 percent.
