March 28, 2019 (Pittsburgh, PA) – Dean Institute of Technology and Rosedale Technical College, today, announced a merger of their operations effective immediately. Rosedale Tech will accommodate Dean Tech’s current students within their programs at Rosedale Tech’s campus. Both schools are known to offer high quality, hands-on technical training with a shared goal of securing high paying employment for their graduates in various technical trades with employers in the area and beyond.

Both schools share a long, rich history of training students in the tri-state area. Founded in 1947 as West Penn Tech, Dean Tech has been a fixture in the downtown Pittsburgh area for nearly 72 years. Rosedale Technical Institute was founded in 1949 in Verona, PA, becoming Rosedale Technical College in 2014, and is now located in Kennedy Township just off Interstate-79.

“The combination of these two iconic institutions is a very positive step towards securing the future of technical training in Western PA,” said Dennis Wilke, President of Rosedale Tech. “By joining forces, students will have the opportunity to continue to seek training in the skilled trades so desperately needed by our local economy.”
“As I considered retirement, I sought a strong partner that has the same values and vision as Dean Tech,” said Jim Dean, President of Dean Tech. “I felt that Rosedale Tech was the perfect fit to continue the Dean Tech legacy, as they have a solid reputation for honesty and sincere commitment to raising the standards of the trades.”

The combined organization will continue to innovate, grow and provide services and course offerings to its students. Rosedale Tech currently offers two-year Associates in Specialized Technology degrees in electrical, HVAC, automotive, diesel, collision repair, and industrial technology. Diploma programs are offered in welding, electrical, HVAC, automotive, diesel and truck driving.

The current Dean Tech location will close and all operations will be relocated to Rosedale Tech’s campus. The combined entity will be known as Rosedale Technical College. Mr. Dean will serve on Rosedale Technical College’s board of directors.
