Rosedale Technical College welcomed a dynamic group of females to its 4th Annual Women in the Trades Day on Friday, March 13.  Those in attendance were eager to learn about career opportunities in nontraditional fields with high demand for skilled workers.

During the event, attendees viewed live demonstrations led by Rosedale Tech female students and alumni, engaged with employers in the Pittsburgh region hiring skilled workers, and learned from industry leaders during a panel discussion and keynote address.

Panel speakers included Kristen Beswick (#1 Cochran), Cindy Fantaski (Eastern Fastener Auto), Hannah McAvoy (Range Resources), and PA State Representative Anita Kulik.

Tracee Quinnell of Liberty Oilfield Services was the keynote speaker for this year’s event. PA State Representative Valerie Gaydos also spoke to the group of participants.

Event sponsors include: Russell Standard, FirstEnergy, Range Resources, Butler Gas Products Company, #1 Cochran and Gordon Food Service.

Participating employers in the career fair include: #1 Cochran, ABC Associated Builders and Contractors of Western PA, Baierl Automotive, Aim Transportation Solutions, FirstEnergy, Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Association (GPADA), New Century Careers, Michael Bros. Recycling, Premier Automation, FedEx, Don’s Appliances, Haddad’s, Pittsburgh International Airport, US Army National Guard, and Russell Standard.

Females who attended the event are eligible to apply for Rosedale Tech’s new Women in the Trades Grant, which will provide females up to $2,000 in funding for school at Rosedale Tech.
